I made one of these for my little boy's room (you can get the full tutorial here), and it was so easy I wanted to do the same for my kitchen.
This literally took me less than a hour to make with leftover fabric (from these other no sew window treatments) and the existing mini blinds. Fast and Free, and with my hubby!

I have been wanting a roman shade for my son's room and when I priced it I about had a heart attack....I love this and will definitely be making that roman shade I want with what I have...yours looks so great!

I just stumbled across your blog the other day. This was perfect for what I needed! I used your tutorial and made these yesterday for our bathroom. My blinds were vinyl, though, so I think I am going to have to attach dowel rods to the slats to make them more sturdy.

Help! I just made these roman shades and my fabric is too light, you can see the slats from the mini blinds. I had extra fabric so I attached it to the back but you can still see through. Any suggestions?

Wow, that looks fantastic! Why haven't I thought of that? I never knew that roman shades are almost the same in protecting you against the very bright sunlight and looking good to boot. In my house in Indianapolis, blinds are my best friend, because I can face look outside without hurting my eyes and I am vexed with extreme heat due to me being used to cold weather.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first moved to this country, I had trouble adjusting to the sunny weather especially the brightness. That is why I looked for window shutters (Indianapolis-based installers) for me to get the problem over with. Not only my windows prevent sunlight from entering, it also adds aesthetics to the house!
